Bachelor of Arts/Science in Women's Studies
Welcome to Women’s Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at Penn State! Women's Studies is the central site for interdisciplinary research and study. A bachelor degree in Women's Studies will prepare you for a career in many different fields. Graduates of Women’s Studies are currently working in a variety of rewarding fields and in various professions, including as: doctors, researchers, nurses, teachers, social workers, counselors, psychologists, journalists, and the list goes on! Many of our graduates go to graduate school, either within the field of Women’s Studies or in a related discipline. The possibilities are truly endless with an undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies. Courses in Women's Studies will help you to develop critical thinking and analytical skills, as well as to gain a broad base of knowledge to support you in any career. Women’s Studies offers many options to students interested in this discipline, including BA and BS degrees as well as a Women’s Studies minor. Many Women’s Studies students have more than one major, and the BA/BS degrees are easily combined with other disciplines. Courses required for the BA/BS degree and the minor often overlap or double-count with course requirements for other majors and general education requirements. Women’s Studies students tend to be very involved in extracurricular activities at Penn State. Many students travel abroad as a way to fulfill Women’s Studies course requirements as well as to enrich their undergraduate education. As an Undergrad in the Women's Studies Department you can become a member of TRIOTA (the WS Honor Society)
Iota Iota Iota (Triota) is an academic honor society in women's studies. Its purpose is to encourage and support scholarship and excellence in women's studies. Triota members strive to maintain the feminist values central to women's studies: egalitarianism, inclusiveness, and the celebration of the diversity of women's experience. Triota's mission is one of service to other women's studies students.
