"I was one of the first graduates with a Women's Studies certificate. During my senior year I took a women's studies health course that was considered controversial and progressive at the time. I remember that during one of my breaks, I left Our Bodies, Our Selves, on the kitchen table at my parents' house on purpose so my mother would read the section on menopause. She completely forgot about that section and was shocked over the book's content. Interesting for a woman who gave birth to 11 children."
Chriss Schultz , 86
"When I first graduated, my goal was to work with women and children of all ages. My first position was as a program specialist for a girl scout council creating informal educational programs for girls ages 5-18, and to conduct (and plan) training programs for adult learners. I used this experience to obtain my conference planner position at Penn State." (6/00)
Cynthia L. New, '89
"I retired one year ago from my position as the director of an outpatient substance abuse facility in Philadelphia due to the impending birth of my now 10 month old son. It is only now that I fully understand the value of my minor in Women's Studies. As a woman of the new century, my foresisters have afforded me the opportunity of "choice'." (6/00)

"I really feel indebted to the Women's Studies program. My Bachelor of Science degree in Women's Studies has been very helpful in many ways. First and foremost, the major has enhanced my analytical skills. As an
attorney, I am constantly looking to distinguish different facts and situations. My Women's Studies degree was my first exposure to questioning every fact and scenario given to me. Second, the major helped to make me a more confident and self-assured woman. I am no longer afraid to stand up to a challenge."
Stephanie is currently working for Tallman, Hudders & Sorrentino as an attorney. Her focus is on general civil practice with an emphasis on real estate law.
